The Friends are pleased to announce the opening of The Hut for the summer 2021 from Sunday 18th July.

Daily opening times 12-5 (weather permitting).

The hut will be selling ice cream and cold drinks. While we await the mini golf revamp funded by The Friends,  mini golf will be available to play for free with a £1 deposit for equipment. Go to the hut for information.

CONTACTLESS AVAILABLE!

We are pleased to announce we are now able to take contactless payments (£1 minimum spend).

In order to make things as safe as possible as the COVID pandemic continues, we ask that you please maintain social distancing measures wherever possible while waiting - eg only one customer group at the window at a time, spacing out the queue, and so on. Please note that on most occasions The Hut will only be staffed by a single member, so we appreciate your patience.

As the Hut is run on a voluntary basis, opening times are subject to change. We publicise the opening times where possible on the Website and for the most up to date information our Facebook Group as well as putting up signs in the Park.

As guideline we aim to open over the weekends and holiday periods during good weather during afternoon hours but please check before coming to avoid disappointment.

Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Field once had a Park Keeper who would man The Hut and run the Crazy Golf Pitch. This has not been the case for some years and so over the last few years the Friends have taken over The Hut and the Crazy Golf. The revenues from the voluntary running of these facilities are a major source of funding for the park since grants have become much harder to come by. The Hut sells a variety of hot and cold refreshments including artisan locally sourced ice-cream for those hot days. We ask that when it is open, you patronise The Hut (instead of the Mr Whippy Van that can often be found parked outside the gates on hot days!)  in support of the park and always be mindful that it is staffed by young volunteers – so please be kind and patient. .
